Canadian Bible Training Center, is a ministry of Cochrane Valley Community Church, in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. Our church was established in 1980 under the leadership of Pastors Robert and Angela Butler and was originally named New Life Christian Fellowship. We are a nondenominational local church. Our pastors
and Elders are all members of Ministers Fellowship International, which provides them with covering and
ongoing support. The president of the our College and Senior Pastor of the church is now Douglas Mitchell. Douglas had worked and trained alongside the Butlers for twenty years. In January 2006 they gave over the reigns into His capable hands, and were released to fulfill their apostolic calling. Dr. Robert is still involved
with the eldership of the church, and is the Dean of the Bible College. He also travels extensively with his
wife Angela teaching, encouraging and strengthening local churches at home and abroad.
God has called the Church to “preach the gospel and make disciples in the nations” (Matt. 28:19-20). Our desire is to fulfill this command by raising up Christian leaders who will be well equipped to do their part in this great task. In 1986 we began our Bible College to facilitate the training of our own leaders and for those in our congregation who wanted to strengthen their relationship with the Lord through deeper Bible Study and it has proven to be a very successful tool in accomplishing this task. The Lord is now leading us to open our doors to the wider body of Christ.
While we take students from around the world, we also have a very strong Canadian vision. Our desire is to bring Christ to the nation of Canada and to see our country fulfill its destiny in the Lord. We believe that God has called us to raise up Christian leaders who will be a blessing to our own country, and also be instruments
in bringing Christ to every nation of the world. To accomplish this there is a need to raise up Spirit-anointed leaders across the nation and around the world who are fully equipped to do their part in this great task.
We believe that to succeed in God’s service, Christians need the following:
To have a strong personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
To be baptized and continually filled with the Holy Spirit.
To be healed and enjoying the abundant life promised by the Lord Jesus Christ.
To have a thorough knowledge of God’s Word and His eternal purpose.
To be equipped to release their full potential in the call of God.
To be people of true faith with a Biblical vision for the local church.
To become true worshippers of God.
To grow and mature in the Lord.
To be thoroughly equipped to do God’s work.
To have opportunity to put into practice what is learned.
To be a member of a local church.
To be linked with other Christians and churches of like-mind.
With this in mind, we have put together programs that are specifically designed to provide Christians with excellent Spirit-Anointed Leadership Training. Each level provides students with a period of training that will equip them to effectively fulfill the purpose of God for their lives, whether they are called into full-time Christian ministry, lay-ministry, or just want to be effective contributing members of a local church.
